Annual Drug Price Guides
A key aspect of the work IDEA does, to educate, inform and share, relevant information, are our Annual Drug Price Guides.
The purpose behind the publication of our Annual Drug Price Guides is clear: It is a vital tool in supporting consistency, credibility, and transparency in drug expert evidence within the Criminal Justice System.
All police forces in England and Wales, as well as the National Crime Agency, collate drug prices and produce internal drug price lists. Many also maintain slang glossaries.
However, these documents are not made publicly available.
In contrast, and in the interests of transparency, consistency, and upholding professional standards within drug expert evidence, the Independent Drug Expert Alliance (IDEA) publishes its Drug Price Guide on an annual basis.
This guide is not intended to replace expert knowledge and nor should it.
IDEA explicitly does not support its use by anyone other than trained and experienced Drug Expert Witnesses who are fully familiar with its content and context.
For further clarity, as outlined in our published disclaimers:
It should always be cross-referenced with case-specific material (e.g. SMS messages detailing pricing or deal sizes);
The data is based predominantly on validated information disclosed in prosecution expert reports across England and Wales;
Practitioners with additional validated pricing data are encouraged to contact us directly at: independentdrugexpertalliance@mail.com.
The IDEA Drug Price Guide forms a key part of the IDEA corporate memory, supporting expert witness training, preserving critical data across evolving drug trends, and helping new experts develop confidence and accuracy in their assessments.
It is a vital resource that promotes consistency and professionalism in expert opinion across the criminal justice system, regardless of the instructing party".
